Message Wear ratings are a "tricky" thing. The biggest "trick" is that a company can claim whatever wear rating they want, UNDER what it is tested as.

For example: Say Cooper makes a performance tire that tested at a rating of 400. If they want, in attempt to have consumers believe it is a stickier tire, they are free to claim it as a 280 wearing tire. Suddenly it seems the tire is in an entirely new performance category (with higher end Toyos, Bridgestones, etc).

They can't list it as a 420 or 500 or whatever rating though.
